Thanks Yinka. See, the Police Management has touted Community Policing for years without backing it up effectively except to allocate humongous budgetary funds which more often than not ends up in a few’s pockets.
Fast forward to the creation of AMOTEKUN which caught them flat footed and subsequently in a damage limitations control, they quickly revisited Community Policing which in the first place would have rendered AMOTEKUN useless had it been already up and doing and result oriented.
I am of the strong opinion that the Police Management sudden wake up from its slumber to reposition Community Policing was as much as an after thought as bending backwards to kiss one’s ar*e!
A kinda policy somersault that’s too late in coming and will pete out just as it was well conceived theoretically but abysmally implemented in similar fashion to other well meaning policies that crumbled at infancy!
GOD Help NIGERIA and pray AMOTEKUN succeeds because it’s a noticeable and significant paradigm shift in the philosophy of Law Enforcement Management and Practices in Nigeria.
Good morning all and TGIF…NAIJA go BETA!
