…Mother seeks justice
It’s a very sad moment for one Mrs Feyisayo Talabi, who resides at No 52, Oyatogun, Street, Oke-Ira, Lagos, South-West, Nigeria, as she recently lost her daughter, Elizabeth to the cold hand of death after a traditional female genital mutilation was done on her .
We learnt that the father, Omotayo Talabi, who hails from Ado-Ekiti informed his family that his town’s traditional and culture demand that when a girl from such a family attained age fourteen, the long age female genital mutilation would be carried on such a girl, this prompted Talabi’s family to perform genital mutilation popularly known as circumcision on their girl, but unfortunately, after the act was done on her, she was bleeding profusely and the innocent teenager was rushed to hospital where she gave up the ghost.
We also gathered that her mother who was very sad after the very unfortunately incident decided to seek for justice by dragging the family to the police. The case is now being handled by the law enforcement officers and the sad mother promised to fight the case to the logical conclusion under the law.
