Monalisa Chinda: I Met The Wrong Person At The Right Time
Nollywood actress Monalisa Chinda in a recent interview has disclosed that her marriage to Segun Dejo Richards crashed after five years because she married the wrong person at the right time.
The screen star who shares a child Tamar with Richards from the marriage further opened up that she was young and naive at the time to have realised she got married to someone who was wrong for her.
Asked if she sees the marriage as a mistake or a regretful decision, she said:
“No, I don’t see it as a mistake. I was just young and naive. I met the wrong person at the right time. The person was wrong for me, so what I did was to dust the dirt off my body and move on.”
“Maybe 5 years ago I would have said yes but now no. Everything that happened to me in the past has been a blessing that has built me to become a better person.
It’s an opener which has made me wiser. I didn’t kill neither did I steal it’s just flesh. Sometimes you think you are getting the right decision for yourself not knowing it’s a grievous mistake.
Don’t stew in your juice if you have made a mistake in life move on, don’t try to carry out revenge or get angry over what you couldn’t control. My advice is let your hurt go so you can be a better person. Let love lead and find you

Monalisa’s marriage to Richards fell apart in 2009 and in an interview she had that year, she alleged that she faced domestic violence and abuse.
According to her, she wasn’t willing to leave despite the abuse.
She reportedly resorted to prayers rather than consider divorce an option but she finally dredged up the courage to walk away when neighbours got involved.
According to her, the fact that the neighbours were fully aware of her dilemma pushed her to walk out of the marriage, damning the consequences.
The actress revealed that she assumed things would get better after the birth of their first child but it only grew worse. She also revealed that her church pastor at the time did nothing to help the situation despite reporting the issue to him.
