In the Bible, God repented and why can’t we Repent? Buttressing this from the book of Jonah 3 Vs 10..”And God saw their works that they turned from their evil way, and God repented of the evil that he had said that he would do unto them and he did it not”.
I have been following the crisis in the ward 1 Counsellorship election outcome in Igbara Oke, Ifedore Local, Ondo State, Nigeria and the aftermath of the recent rerun in the ward 1 which comprises 29units, second largest in the Sunshine State.
A day before the consellorship election, I warned on the need to maintain peace and order but was criticised and at the end I am vindicated. APC Candidate, Hon.Kehinde Lawal has been declared by the ODIEC and sworn in..
The development which did not augur well on the part of APM, candidate, Busola Ojo and the aggrieved members of his party. This resulted to peaceful protest which later escalated to vandalism. Subsequently, the state government had no option than to declared 24hours curfew in the State.
As a result of this, an Amotekun officer, Corporal Bode Thomas was stabbed and died during the crisis and some of the aggrieved youths sustained various injuries..Bitter politics indeed!
Their agitation was that the candidate of APC, Hon.Kehinde Lawal is not an indigene..Bitter Politics! Hon..Kehinde Lawal was born in Igbara Oke over 50years ago and married to the daughter of the land and by virtue of 1999 constitution as amended, he has right to vote and be voted for in an election
His antecedent reveals that he had used his resources to promote the incubent, Gov. Arakunrin Akeredolu for the past 10 years and opportunity has come to pay him back.
The youths of the town has remained adamant and want justice to be done hence the protest that led to the death of Amotekun officer, Corporal Bode Thomas
Therefore, the arrested protesters had been detained at Olokuta Correctional service and charges ranging from gun running, violence, robbery and murder has been filed against them and they would appear in court soon.
It could be recalled an indigene of Igbara Oke, Hon.Olatunbosun Oyintiloye born in Ibadan, Oyo State is currently a member of the Osun State House of Assembly..He is the Chairman, Committee on Information and strategy .much Ado, Counsellorship election in ward 1. What is good for the goose is also good for the ganders..
In an interview with Hon. Oyintiloye recently, he said, as a way of finding lasting solution to crisis and agitations in the country as well as sustaining the legacy of nascent democracy, the lawmaker representing Obokun Counstituency revealed that no matter how strong and necessary the agitations might be it is always to jaw-jaw than to war war saying such is the platform that democracy created for every stakeholders in the system..
Another area that needs to be looked into and learn from is the case of Chief of Air Staff. Air Vice Marsal Amo Isiaka is from Osogbo, Osun State but married to Igbara Oke daughter and has been able to use his connection to establish Air Force school in the nodal town. What a way development not bitter Politics.
However, the aggrieved protesters has blamed the king, Oba Adefarakanmi for not intervening in the crisis, what do you expect the king to do, to support the indigene or non Indigene? No way! He would rather maintain his nuetranity.
This medium received a called from One Mr. Ilesanmi a.k.a Water, blaming us on our report, but our duty is to report issue as it is to our readers. On the part of State government, I will advise that they should threat the issue very well and avoid bitter Politics..That the area didn’t vote for the Governor, that doesn’t means that what belongs to the area will not be given to them .There is need to plan ahead, close ranks and heal the injured before the next election now that the chicken has come home to roast.
Thereafter, Igbara Oke indigenes should forget about bitter Politics and support their sons and daughters in the ruling government in order to attract development.
God bless the Sunshine State!
God bless the Nodal town
God bless VENO
