
California based entertainer, Nkan Eledua, aka Nkan is a song writer, recording artist and a performing artist.
Nkan genre of music is Afrocentric and Kosmopolitan that has a fusion of Jazz, pop and highlife projecting her ‘ Yoruba ‘ culture.
Married with the western culture. Via her lyrics, instrumental with an infusion of ijala.
Nkan was actually discovered and encouraged at age 4 by her dad who later died at his prime age.
She later moved on in life driven by that passion and joined a theater company that later groomed her passion for entertainment.
We asked her if entertainment was her childhood’s ambition? and her response was
“Not at all, “My ambition was to be a doctor, but there was this story I recalled as a child before my dad passed away, I was singing and I heard one of my neighbors in the next building saying “I won’t be surprised if this child grows up singing” I guess she sees the future”.
Nkan has produced three singles to her credit.
She just dropped an official video titled Mr. Dj. Also, she’s getting ready to get back to the studio for Brother and California Love.
Her most happiest moment as a singer was
When her fans walked up to her at every of her performance to say “your voice is healing and refreshing.” I have gotten that comment several times and that makes me feels I am touching lives with my creativity”, she said.
On her mentors,she said, ,”Okay. I will say, I am still tie to the older genres of music and you can find some of their styles in my song as a great influence, not letting go off my culture. I will say the likes of Asa, Lijadu sisters, Onyeka Onwenu, Late Mariam Makeba and Angelique Kidjo”.
