The capital city of Abia state, Umuahia was agog on Saturday, February 4, 2023 as the people of Umuahia Ibeku(Egwu Asaa), under the aegis of Ibeku People’s Forum Worldwide, adopted the Labour Party Governorship Candidate, Dr. Alex Otti, as their only choice in governorship election scheduled for March 11, 2023.
In his speech, the deputy traditional Prime Minister of Umuahia Ibeku, Chief Moses Emenike (Oforo-Ibeku), lamented the undue neglect of Ibeku land, which is the indigenous host of Abia state capital in Umuahia.
He prayed the Ibeku land to graciously welcome Otti come May 29 as the executive governor of Abia state.
The Patron of Ibeku People’s Forum, Dr. Chimezie Ukaegbu, assured Dr Otti that the occasion is a consolidation of the of the unalloyed support Ibeku and Umuahia people have for candidacy.
He said the significance of the paraphernalia is to charge him to go into the election with confidence and victory mindset.
Speaking at the event, the Campaign Director General of Alex Otti, Hon. Acho Obioma acknowledged the overwhelming reception accorded them and charged the mammoth crowd to crown it all by trooping out enmass on February 25, and March 11 and cast their votes for Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, Alex Otti and all Labour Party candidates in the state.
In his response, Alex Otti acknowledged the long- term support Umuahia Ibeku have always demonstrated towards his efforts to lead Abia during past elections.
The Labour Party Governorship Candidate, who had earlier visited different Ibeku communities, Ubani village including TradeMore Estate enjoined them not to be discouraged in the continuous support.
He encouraged them to form cooperatives and reach out to their constituency leaders for proper documentation for easier distribution of grants and funds specially designed for women and youths to support them in business and farming.
Dr. Otti disclosed that the modalities to promptly tackle the lingering poverty aggravated by lack of policy framework by current government have been worked out and will be fully activated few days after inauguration, if elected.
