Peradventure I am a billionaire by illegitimate means and pretending to be nice; going about extending alms to different organizations, widows, orphanage homes, individuals; more so, publicly announcing cash relief programs, maybe I would have won one of my presidential primary elections in 2017 and or 2022, it would have generated “rakadede” – accolades, masterminded chieftaincy from different places; obviously! .
But is that what power and politics is all about? No, it’s not. Politics should be about humanity, ethics, patriotism, respect, value sharing and nation building with the fear of God.
In 2017 immediately I announced my political aspiration for the position of the President. Someone introduced me to a billionaire that promised to support my political campaign. In my mind, now this is it. Lol!
After a few hours of waiting, the billionaire arrived and went to a very cool eatery to talk. So Favour what do you have for Nigeria? He asked. Excitedly, I poured my plans with every energy in me like a hungry lion expecting to go back to my campaign team gallantly as the expression on the person’s face gave me horse manpower so I highlighted my yearly plans if I become the President of Nigeria. It was like I was in the presence of world leaders. Oh boy! After my mechanical gesticulations, the below was captivatingly delivered and I got an unimaginable shock.
“Favour, wow! You spoke greatly, so amazing, this is what we need in Nigeria, I see how passionate, committed and determined you are. In fact, I’m going to call 5 people right now and take you to them. Let me assure you right here that we will help you. Sure! you will be given at least N5 to N10 billion but what’s in it for me and my friends?”
Of course, I can’t escape such a question but while I was trying to put my thoughts together, fluiding what should be my winning speech last card and wouldn’t jeopardize and or negatively affect national interest in the name of sponsorship, political and or individual interest.
The person interjected, “you know we can’t fully trust you at the moment because this is a business.” I agree! here it is, “I need to open up to you” (based on the personal interest the person has for me)
“Favour, what we will give you is with a condition” The bombshell dropped. Guess what! “CAN YOU DRINK BLOOD”? We need to swear an oath (so that you won’t drop our demand when you get there) the person said.
I couldn’t believe my ears. You mean?
My head went 360° with a 1 million km race per second my purpose driven vision and value I represent; after a few seconds of astonishment. I am sorry, I CAN’T. “Then there is no deal,” the person said. That was how the conversation ended.
If I had compromised my faith, values and said YES to the “blood drinking” proposal and I became rich, people wouldn’t know what I did in secret and they wouldn’t bother to question my source of wealth.
I have also declined a lot of contaminated and destructive proposals in the name of politics, power and fame! I am a child of God; the apostle of Christ Jesus. It’s too late to be a part of the secret world.
May Nigeria-Africa survive and succeed.
